About Journey to RAHA
First things first, RAHA was taken from the root word, Furaha, which means happiness, bliss, joy, or contentment in Swahili. This is a journey to happiness, essentially. In 2011, I self-funded and produced an episodic documentary that followed the life of Terica a young black woman (then 29) who lost her job as a teacher, love for dance, and confidence in the course of a year. We paired her with a life coach & educator, dance mentor, and reconnected her with black women to support her journey and filmed the progress. The episode below received more than 35,000 views! In addition, we gave her a makeover and created a magazine with her as the cover model and central story as the capstone to this adventure.
Today, Terica is a newlywed (and she married a doctor, y'all!), a mother, and loving life as an educator supporting and teaching the babies.
